Doctor Bernd Bruchmann

Bernd Bruchmann received his Ph.D. degree in Chemisty at the Technical University of Clausthal, Germany, in 1988. In the same year he joined BASF, where he started his career as industrial chemist in polymer research working on reaction polymers for foams, thermoplastic and coatings applications, covering linear, branched and highly branched polymeric structures.

From 2000 to 2010 he was working as a Principal Scientist heading a research group focused on the development of functional intermediate polymers. In 2010 he took over responsibility for the BASF-"Research-on-Campus” lab located at the I.S.I.S. Institute, University of Strasbourg, France.

Simultaneously he was organizing and setting up BASF´s new European Post Doc Initiative "Joint Research Network on Advanced Materials and Systems” ("JONAS” for short), which is a scientific collaboration of BASF with three academic partners, namely the I.S.I.S.-Institute in Strasbourg, the University of Freiburg (Germany) and the ETH Zurich.

At present Bernd Bruchmann is heading "JONAS”, starting operations in 2012 and having since then more than 60 scientists actively working at the three academic locations.

His publication list holds 38 scientific papers and more than 250 patent applications.
